Monopoly Game Board

Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver 'pass go' on Monopoly game board

Three Canadian cities will be featured in the Monopoly board game after five million fans cast votes for their favourite cities to be included in the first-ever international edition.

Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver were among 22 cities that earned a spot on the Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition board, game maker Hasbro said Wednesday.

Other cities chosen by fans include Beijing, London and Paris.

Montreal will occupy the dark blue property traditionally owned by Boardwalk, the most expensive one on the game board.

Toronto will occupy the magenta property traditionally owned by Virginia Avenue and Vancouver will occupy the orange property traditionally owned by New York Avenue.

Hasbro said the cities were chosen over six weeks earlier this year through a global vote that saw 5.6 million fans casting ballots for 70 cities.



Montreal was chosen as boardwalk!!!

Raccoon

I live in Montreal....a city. I heard something outside this morning, turned on the lights and didn't see anything. I thought the noise was coming from upstairs, which is where my brother lives. I let my dog out and he runs over to the corner of the balcony and he's howling and howling. Then I see a raccoon is staring my dog in the face!!! I was so scared, I was trying to get my dog in the house and he wouldn't come. I run in the house to get Daniel up and then Toby ran in the house. Good thing because I left the back door open, and the raccoon couldn't have been the one to run in the house. I will walk my dog on a leash from now on......

Update

We got the apartment!! The landlord said it was no problem to have toby there as long as people weren't complaining. They know Toby has been there a lot already and no one has said anything. Toby will be at my parents in the day when we are at work, and due to the fact he has separation anxiety it will really help. He is use to my parents and doesn't howl. My mom is also home all day, so he's not alone. We're so excited!!! We have a lot of furniture to buy but everything else we have.

I'm really excited for Stephanie Meyer's "Breaking Dawn" which is being released Saturday!!!
I've been looking forward to it for awhile. 

On a personal note: Daniel and I are looking into taking over his dad's apartment in September. He's going to be retiring and the rent is great. Daniel and I have been staying with my parents, saving money for a condo. However, we still need to buy the condo and ALL of our furniture. So, we've decided to take the apartment for a year, buy all our furniture and then look into purchasing a condo or house. Since we will have more of a down payment. I'm really excited and hope that the landlord agrees to let us move in. It makes me nervous that he might not agree to us having a dog. I would NEVER get rid of my dog! So, I really hope he says everything is fine. We plan to bringing my dog over to my parents in the day when we are at work. My parents own the duplex and my mom is home in the day. 

We're also thinking about getting married in the spring. We want something really small, and in Niagara Falls. This has come about because the more we think about it the more we don't want a huge wedding. With the size of our families it would have to be a large wedding. One of Daniel's cousin's is getting married, and can't afford a huge wedding so he invited a few family members. Many family members were insulted that they were not invited. I don't want the same thing. I don't want the stress and guilt about not inviting certain people. I especially don't want to go through choosing who can come and who can't. So, Niagara Falls it is....with our parents and siblings families. We just want a fun weekend. We'll still have a really nice ceremony and have a really nice dinner and everything. This way we can have an informal party and invite EVERYONE after. We were thinking a family barbeque after. 
     We discussed this with both our parents and they have agreed and are excited. I think they were expecting us to do this. They have really nice wedding packages with limo tours of the city, helicopter rides, boat rides ect.... Our parents asked us to wait for the spring because his mom is working, his dad is retiring and moving back to Gaspe. It gives them time to settle in. Hopefully, we'll be settling in to our apartment....Things are looking up!


Here is the dress i've been looking at. 



I love it. Plus, it's not that expensive since I will only be wearing it for a couple hours for the ceremony and pictures.

Family

Yesterday, we had a barbeque for father's day. My brother and his wife have a hard time with cooking supper for their family. They have two young boys and we stressed on my brother that they need to eat properly. His wife doesn't cook and since she works evenings my brother has to take care of them by himself. When she gets home, the boys are in bed. While we were barbecuing my mom asked C to get the hot dog buns ready. She asked me what to do you butter, I told her the sides. I continued working and then noticed that she buttered the insides. So, we had to show her the difference. Keep in mind this is a woman of 30 years old. 


I think it is incredibly sad that no one showed her how to cook hots dogs...

Update on Ebookwise



I really love my ebookwise. I found a great site to download free ebooks (www.ebookhood.com) and it is amazing. I found "The Host" and all three in the Twilight series. Also, Catch-22 and Doctor Zhivago. These are book I own and would not want to pay for again, at least I don't have to carry around my hardcovers. I hate carrying around my books because I hate when they get bent or scratched. This machine is amazing! The backlight makes reading in bed very easy, since Daniel hates the light being on.


I can also upload all the books from Project Gutenberg. I know i'll still buy books, but maybe some books I'll just buy in ebook format. I want to give James Patterson a try, but don't really want to buy all the books. 

It's a chick lit book, and I bought this in ebook format. I know I'll only read it once. I really need to try and use the ebooks because I have no more space for books!!

ereading...

After a lot of thought and consideration, I decided to give ereading a chance. I use to read a lot of ebooks when I had my palm pilot but always thought the small screen was a little annoying. I've been looking at a lot of ebook readers, but the price is astronomical, 300-800$ was too much for me. The Sony Reader and the Amazon Kindle look great but they have no backlight and cost 300$. I love reading in bed, and the light is mostly tuned off. A backlight was a must. So. here is what I have come up with...

It is called the ebookwise. The technology is a little older, but it has a backlight. On the plus side I paid it 115$. Many times books get left at home because it is too heavy to carry, and this should help me. It's about the size of a paperback book. Ebooks are not available for all books, but after skimming the site many books on my tbr list is on the website. The books are cheaper, and many of them I already own in paperback or hardcover. So I wouldn't mind buying it for my ereader. Some books cost 3$ while others cost 10$. I'm hoping that I can buy some on ebooks and not bother with buying the paper format due to the fact I have NO MORE Shelf space. It's going to be great for vacation because I can load it up with books, and there we go...I have lots of choice while on the go. There is also a phone plug, and i can download books while connected to the phone, not to the computer. Great while I'll be on vacation. I hope I really enjoy it. I use to read ebooks all the time in University.

It's safe to say...I have a problem. I bought a whole shelf space of book. Most of hardcovers I bought for under 10$.  The bookstore is on the corner near my work...

Another book related problem I had this month: I was standing at my bus stop reading my book. I had my favorite bookmark clipped to my book (its magnetic). Suddenly the wind came and my bookmark flew into the street. I was about to step off the sidewalk and then the bus came... and stopped on top of my bookmark!!! I was so upset. It's the cutest bookmark. I came home, told Daniel, and he told me to order three. This way if I loose once, I can't say I only have one left. Yes, we work great together.

I received them today, and I'm really happy.
